Use a ruler or another verified length beside your mouse. Two inches or five centimeters is an easy starting point; longer distances reduce hand error.

Start the run, move exactly to your ruler mark, then click. Cross-axis movement is recorded so diagonal drift stays visible.

Five runs produce an average, deviation score, likely 50-DPI step, and a confidence label you can actually interpret.

An honest DPI estimate beats a fake exact number. A website cannot inspect every mouse sensor profile directly. It can measure movement reported by your browser and compare it with a known physical distance. That makes this an effective DPI estimate—not laboratory certification.

Can an online mouse DPI checker read hardware DPI directly?+

No browser can read every mouse sensor profile directly. This tool estimates effective DPI by comparing reported movement with a physical distance you measure. Your mouse software remains the best source for the configured hardware profile.

How do I check my mouse DPI accurately?+

Set browser zoom to 100%, mark a verified distance beside the mouse, turn pointer acceleration off when possible, and move in a straight line. Use five runs and trust a tight cluster more than one round-looking result.

Why is my measured DPI different from the mouse software?+

Browser zoom, display scaling, operating-system pointer speed, acceleration, a short path, and hand measurement error can all change the estimate. A small difference does not by itself mean the sensor or software is wrong.

Is mouse sensitivity the same as DPI?+

No. DPI describes how much movement the mouse reports per physical inch. Operating-system or in-game sensitivity applies another multiplier. In one game, eDPI is commonly calculated as mouse DPI multiplied by the in-game sensitivity value.

Do I need a physical ruler for a mouse DPI test?+

You need a reliable real-world distance. A ruler is easiest, but a standard bank card, a known paper size, or the calibrated phone ruler can help mark a distance. Without a physical reference, absolute DPI cannot be estimated reliably.

Why should I repeat the mouse DPI test five times?+

A physical ruler test includes small hand and alignment errors. Repeated runs show whether the estimate is stable. The average, deviation, and cross-axis drift are more informative than a single result.

Does the mouse DPI checker upload movement data?+
